Dan Sax — Abstract Art
I'm Dan Sax, a media designer and painter based in Berlin. My abstract painting emerges from the same intuition that shapes my design work, just without a brief.
What interests me: surfaces that can't be reproduced. Layers of colour and texture that have real depth. The interplay between control and chance on canvas.
My works are created exclusively as originals, handcrafted with acrylic paints, palette knives, brushes and foil techniques on canvas. No prints, no reproductions.
Artist Statement
My art is a tactile journey into the world of modern abstraction. As a Berlin-based artist, I create 100 percent handmade original paintings that focus on organic structures and raw textures. Instead of flat canvases, I build multi-layered, haptic topographies using high-quality acrylics and experimental foil techniques. It is an honest, physical experience of materiality that no digital print could ever replicate.
My trained eye, developed through years of experience as a graphic designer, guides the composition of every piece. I translate impressions that move me in the natural world into an abstract visual language. The focus is not on depicting objects, but on translating the raw energy of textures and the dynamics of color into a precise interplay. These three-dimensional relief structures invite viewers to explore the artwork from an intimate distance and get lost in the details.
Each painting possesses its own identity, which becomes tangible through a title and a short narrative. These texts deepen the dialogue between the work and the observer, providing an individual context for each piece. My works function as organic fragments that bridge the gap between the wild aesthetics of nature and the clean architecture of the interior.
I intentionally choose not to offer prints and focus on formats that make genuine art a tangible part of daily life. This strategic scaling ensures that original art remains accessible. My mission is to provide handmade original art for everyone, ensuring that any space can find its own character-driven, haptic statement.
